Disclosure shows Trump earned $57.4 million from World Liberty Financial
Trump’s federal financial disclosure, released in June 2025, reported $57.4 million in income from World Liberty Financial token sales, and about 15.75 billion WLFI tokens still in his hands. The venture’s backers include foreign and regulated parties. This entry is logged, not counted: it is 2024 income, earned before the inauguration.
What happened
The Trump family launched World Liberty Financial in September 2024 with developer Steve Witkoff, now Trump’s special envoy, and his son Zach. It is a crypto venture. Its token buyers included foreign investors and crypto firms regulated by agencies that now answer to Trump.
On June 13, 2025, Trump filed his annual financial disclosure with the Office of Government Ethics. It attributed roughly $57.4 million in income to him from World Liberty token sales, without saying how the money was earned. The filing covered calendar 2024, the year Trump was a candidate and then president-elect.
The same filing reported Trump holding 15.75 billion WLFI governance tokens, which carry voting rights in the project. This entry is logged, not counted. The income was earned in 2024, before Trump took office, and the World Liberty total is carried on the 2025 records.
Who benefited
Trump reported about $57.4 million in personal income from a venture trading on his name during his campaign and transition. The Witkoffs, Steve and Zach, his partners in the venture, also benefited from the sales.
Who wanted something
World Liberty’s token buyers and backers included foreign investors, crypto firms and individuals such as Tron founder Justin Sun. Some were regulated by, or facing enforcement from, agencies Trump would control once in office.
Who lost out
No public money is involved. The loss is in oversight. The only accounting of this money is the president’s own annual form, filed in June 2025, months after the year it covers, and it gives no breakdown of how the money was earned.
Why it matters
Trump’s own filing says a crypto venture paid him about $57.4 million while he was running for and preparing to take office. The buyers include foreign and regulated parties, and the agencies that police crypto now answer to him. His 2025 disclosure, filed a year later, reported far larger World Liberty sums.
