What happened

The June 26, 2025 purchase came a day after World Liberty Financial, the Trump-family-linked DeFi project, said it would make WLFI tradable. The $100 million was paid for tokens issued by the venture; it is money into the project rather than a separately disclosed direct payment counted as Trump personal income here, and it is distinct from the separately tracked MGX-Binance $2 billion USD1 deal.

Why it matters

UAE-linked fund Aqua1 bought $100M of WLFI to become the largest disclosed tokenholder in the Trump family's World Liberty venture. A large purchase by a foreign-linked fund that directly enriches the president's business raises a foreign-influence conflict.
