Paramount settles Trump '60 Minutes' suit for $16 million
Paramount Global agreed to pay $16 million to settle Trump's lawsuit over CBS's editing of a '60 Minutes' interview with Kamala Harris.
What happened
Announced July 2, 2025, the settlement included no apology; Paramount said the money would go to Trump's future presidential library rather than to him personally. The agreement came as Paramount sought federal approval for its merger with Skydance. Trump's 2025 disclosure listed the CBS payment as $16 million to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation; because it went to the foundation, it is not counted in the personal take.
Why it matters
Paramount settled a '60 Minutes' suit for $16M directed to Trump's library foundation while it sought federal approval of its merger. A payment benefiting the president from a company needing a government sign-off raises the appearance of pay-to-play.
