DHS buys a billion-dollar surveillance backbone from Palantir

What happened

DHS signed a blanket purchase agreement with Palantir worth up to $1 billion over five years, usable department-wide. It makes Palantir's platform the standing connective tissue that can pull, join, and query records across DHS components without a fresh contract each time.

Why it matters

The infrastructure bill for continental-scale surveillance, paid and installed before the election: a department-wide contract turns fusion from a pilot into plumbing. If the administration decides to point that plumbing at domestic political targets, the procurement is already done and largely invisible.
