A report counts 412 incidents of crowd-control weapon misuse against ICE protesters
Physicians for Human Rights and the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley released a report documenting 412 verified incidents of the misuse of crowd-control weapons by local, state and federal law enforcement at anti-ICE protests between June 2025 and May 2026.
What happened
The report documented 203 injuries stemming from the alleged misuse of the weapons, and says the true number is likely far greater because visual investigative techniques cannot adequately assess invisible injuries. The weapons counted include chemical irritants such as teargas, pepper spray and Mace, along with kinetic impact projectiles including rubber bullets and bean bag rounds, as well as stun grenades and water cannons. DHS did not respond to inquiries about the report's findings before publication.
